President William Ruto has suspended Dr. Swarup Mishra, the former Kesses Member of Parliament, from his position as chairman of the Kenya Biovax Institute.
The announcement was made in an official statement released by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Friday.
According to the press release, Dr. Mishra’s suspension will remain in effect as investigations continue into serious allegations of illegal kidney transplant procedures at Mediheal Hospital and Fertility Center in Eldoret.
The hospital, which is currently under investigation, was founded by Dr. Mishra.

The Ministry of Health has also taken action, with Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale suspending two senior officials from the ministry. The officials are suspected of being involved in malpractice and ethical breaches related to kidney transplant services at the hospital.
Investigations have revealed disturbing claims that kidneys were being harvested from poor Kenyans, who were allegedly paid Ksh.294,000 for their organs. These kidneys were then reportedly sold to foreign recipients for as much as Ksh.3.2 million each.
Police are now probing the possibility of a well-organized organ trafficking network operating within the hospital.

Human rights activists and medical professionals have also raised concerns about the exploitation of vulnerable individuals and the violation of medical ethics.
In the statement, the government insisted on its commitment to ensuring accountability and protecting the dignity and health of all Kenyans.
The investigations are ongoing, and more action is expected as the authorities dig deeper into the scandal.
