High Court Halts Sale of Moses Kuria’s Property Amid Wife’s Objection

President William Ruto’s Senior Economic Advisor, Moses Kuria, has received a temporary reprieve after the High Court blocked Equity Bank from auctioning one of his properties. The court decision came following an application by his wife, Joyce Njambi Kuria, who raised concerns over the planned sale.

Equity Bank had moved to sell the property located in Nairobi, claiming it was used as security for a loan. However, Joyce Njambi argued that she was not consulted or informed when the property was used to secure the loan, despite being a joint owner.

In her court documents, she stated that she only learned about the intended sale recently and expressed fear that her rights as a co-owner were being ignored. She further argued that if the sale went ahead, it would cause her significant loss and hardship.

The High Court, after reviewing the submissions, issued an interim order stopping the bank from proceeding with the sale until the case is fully heard and determined.

The judge also directed all involved parties to file their responses within a specified period before the next hearing.

This legal dispute has now drawn public attention, especially due to Kuria’s role in government and the high-profile nature of the case.

While the court has not yet ruled on whether the bank acted within the law, the halt in the sale gives the Kuria family a window to present their case.

The matter is set to return to court in the coming weeks. Until then, Equity Bank is barred from taking any steps to dispose of the contested property.
