Justin Muturi 1

In an NTV interview, former CS Justin Muturi addressed his relationship with newly appointed CS Geoffrey Ruku, clarifying that he has no issues with him. Muturi described Ruku as a friend whom he mentored in politics. He noted that Ruku began his political journey early, running for councillor in 2002 shortly after university.

Muturi recalled Ruku’s earlier days as a passionate and sometimes aggressive political supporter, even revealing that Ruku once nearly struck him during a heated moment while backing another candidate. Despite that, Muturi said they later reconciled and worked closely.

He further revealed that President William Ruto played a role in aligning their political paths. Ruto, aiming to avoid clashes between Muturi and a then-prominent MP, advised him to hand Ruku a party ticket, since UDA had its own candidate. Muturi agreed to the arrangement, highlighting the political balancing act behind the scenes.
