Keziah Nyambura, a 41-year-old mother of three, passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on April 3, 2025. She had been undergoing treatment for a severe stomach tumour that had affected her for four years.

Nyambura’s health struggles gained national attention after a viral video showed her battling the condition. She initially sought treatment at local hospitals before being referred to KNH for specialized care.

Doctors at KNH conducted multiple tests upon her admission last month. Medical teams began treatment, but her condition deteriorated unexpectedly, leading to her death.

Before her passing, Nyambura shared how the tumour had made daily activities such as eating, walking, and sleeping extremely difficult. Despite her struggles, she remained hopeful about recovery.

Her case attracted widespread public support, with Kenyans contributing to her medical expenses through a fundraising drive. Philanthropist Karangu Muraya confirmed her death on social media, thanking those who assisted.

Medical reports indicated that her condition had progressively worsened over the years. KNH doctors attempted various interventions to manage the complications, but the illness proved challenging.

Nyambura leaves behind three children and grieving family members. Her death occurred just days after she began receiving specialized treatment at the facility.
