During his tour of the Mt Kenya region, President William Ruto visited Murang’a County to launch the Kaihii Irrigation Project in Kangema. While addressing the gathering, Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata focused on development rather than politics, emphasizing that everyone is welcome in the county.

The governor urged Ruto to allow county governments to continue issuing bursaries to needy students instead of relying on the Controller of Budget. He also called on the president to help establish an international stadium in Murang’a, noting that the county lacks such a facility.

Additionally, the governor raised concerns about the high cost of seedlings for farmers, requesting that the price be reduced to Ksh 400 to make them more affordable. His remarks highlighted key development priorities for Murang’a residents as they seek government support to improve education, sports infrastructure, and agriculture.
