Ruth Matete 1

Celebrated Kenyan Gospel musician Ruth Matete has revealed to the whole world that her daughter Reyna Toluwa does not know how to speak the national language Swahili.

The ‘Mapenzi’ hit maker disclosed this in a post that she made on her Instagram stories recently, where she shared a short video clip that showed how she was teaching the 4-year-old some Swahili words.

In the video, Ruth Matete, who is currently living in Canada, was heard saying the Swahili words, and Reyna Toluwa’s task was to repeat after her.

“So ukunywe chai na pancake, twende tuvae viatu, tuvae nguo, twende kwa gari, tufike church, timber, tucheze, tushout, tuscream, tushangilie, tusifu bwana” the singer said

What was clear however is that Reyna Toluwa did not say the words as perfectly as Ruth Matete did. She struggled a lot.

For example instead of saying “tuvae nguo”, she was heard saying “tuvaye ngiuo”.

In the video, baby Reyna Toluwa infact spoke the English language way better compared to the Swahili language, which is a true testament to how she was brought up.

Ruth Matete was even amazed by how Reyna Toluwa had already learnt the English language at her young age.

The Gospel singer even compared her to herself with regards to how long it took her to learn the language.

“Huyu anajua mama yake hakuongea kizungu hadi vile alifika class 3? 😂😂😂😂 Tuvaye ngiuo. Hehehehe 😂😂” Ruth Matete said.

Meanwhile kindly share your thoughts about this on the comment section.
