Kenyan musician Bien Baraza has claimed the Best Artiste Eastern Africa award at the 2025 Trace Awards in Zanzibar, reinforcing his position as one of the region’s most celebrated artists.

The Trace Awards, known as one of Africa’s most prestigious music events, gathered top artists from across the continent and beyond for a night of recognition and performances. Bien’s win was remarkable, considering he outshined some of the region’s most renowned stars, including Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Marioo, Harmonize, Uganda’s Joshua Baraka, and Ethiopia’s Rophnan. As the only Kenyan nominee in this category, he carried the nation’s hopes and emerged victorious.
