Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo has announced six new appointments to the Government Delivery Unit (GDU) aimed at enhancing the government’s communication strategies.
According to a report by Citizen TV, the new team includes notable figures from the media and communications sectors.
Among the appointees are former KTN journalists Boniface Odinga and Patrick Amimo, who bring valuable experience to the team. Dr. Carol Mandi, a respected Strategic Communications Advisor with a background in the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy, has also been appointed. Dr. Mandi has previously held positions such as Managing Editor of True Love Magazine and Sub-Editor at Nation Media Group.
The newly formed team is rounded out by branding specialists Archie Achieng Ojany, Wambui Ng’ayu, and Alloyce Obare. Ojany has prior experience as the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Sports in the Kisumu County Government. Obare served as a Delivery Advisor in the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, as well as Chief of Staff in the County Government of Siaya. Ng’ayu, an advertising expert, has worked at NTV and K24, adding to the team’s diverse skill set.
In a statement released on December 5, Owalo emphasized that the team’s primary focus will be to ensure clear communication regarding government plans and their implementation. “The goal is to maintain transparency about government initiatives and their progress,” he stated.
Since being appointed Deputy Chief of Staff and Delivery Management in President Ruto’s government on August 23, 2024, Owalo has been responsible for overseeing the Public Service Performance Management Unit (PSPMU) and the GDU. These new appointments align with his mandate to enhance the delivery of government services effectively.
