In a bizarre and ironic turn of events, two police officers were arrested in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, after they were found culpable of slaughtering a cow reported missing at Kaptagat Police Station.
The officers, identified as Chrispus Butali and Samwel Mbugua Njuguna, were apprehended at the scene where the cow was discovered slaughtered.
According to a police report, the incident came to light after Josphine Kandie, the owner of the cow, reported her animals missing earlier in the day.

Upon receiving information that a cow had been found slaughtered at the very police station where she had reported her missing animals, Kandie rushed to the scene, prompting an uproar from local residents.
Irate members of the public stormed Kaptagat Police Station, demanding answers and immediate action, including the transfer of the implicated officers and the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).
Attempts by police to calm the angry crowd proved futile, as tensions escalated.
The situation quickly spiraled, with residents barricading the Eldama Ravine-Eldoret road to express their frustrations. Police officers attempting to restore order were met with resistance as the rowdy crowd called for accountability and justice.
By the time of publishing this report, running battles were still ongoing, with police struggling to disperse the enraged locals.
