President William Ruto’s administration has explained why their candidate Raila Odinga’s papers have not been submitted to African Union.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei explained that Raila’s bid is yet to be submitted due to the chaos and confusion that has rampaged the country over the past two weeks.
“The country has been in a state of chaos and confusion over the past two weeks following anti-Finance Bill protests and that is why we have not submitted it,” he said in a phone interview.
According to the African Union, the deadline for the submission of credentials to the AUC is August 6, 2024.
Recent protests forced Ruto to join Azimio camp in rejecting the finance bill.
DP Rigathi Gachagua alleged that President Ruto was not receiving timely advice promised to always speak to the Head of State on key issues affecting the nation.
“One of the ways I will help him is by advising on what Kenyans are saying so that we can serve them,” he explained.
Siaya Governor James Orengo now wants President William Ruto to resign, arguing that there is too much public anger against the Kenya Kwanza government.
He says that if President Ruto was listening to the people’s mood in the country, he could resign because Kenyans are fed up with the current administration.
