MP Oscar Sudi was spotted leaving Parliament and was escorted by several MPs and Sergeants-at-Arms during the heated debate on the Finance Bill. The atmosphere was tense as discussions on the contentious bill reached a fever pitch. Sudi, known for his outspoken nature, had been at the center of the stormy session.

His departure, flanked by colleagues and security personnel, showed the high stakes and intense emotions surrounding the bill.

This moment highlighted the deep divisions within the legislative body as MPs grappled with the implications of the proposed financial measures on their constituents.

His partipation comes months after a parliamentary report highlighted Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa as among the most frequently absent members of the National Assembly.

According to the report, Hon. Sudi last signed the parliamentary attendance register on November 9, 2023, during President William Ruto’s first State of the Nation address, marking over 86 missed sessions.

Similarly, MP Didmus Barasa has also been noted for skipping at least 86 sittings. Reports indicate that Barasa has been preoccupied with laying groundwork for a gubernatorial bid in Bungoma County.

However Sudi said he was active on political matters when they were working hard for Ruto to win the presidency and now that he has clinched the seat, he has nothing left to fight for.

This comes as Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group met at State House Nairobi on Tuesday.MPs and Senators were taken through the changes made to the Finance Bill 2024 by Finance Committee Chairman Kimani Kuria.

Speaking at the meeting, President William Ruto said the changes to the Finance Bill have taken into account the views of the people and other stakeholders during public participation sessions.
