Police officers who had been deployed to different streets of Nairobi city seemed to have been overwhelmed after defiant demonstrators resisted moves by the officers to drive them out of the city streets.
The demonstrations against the Finance Bill of 2024 garnered momentum even as police officers lobbied tear gas canisters on the demonstrators. From the video streamed live by citizen TV, police officers could be seen standing and watching helplessly at one point in time as demonstrators gathered again and increased in numbers
Journalists and the officers had a rough time running across the streets of Nairobi as demonstrators engaged the police in cat-and-mouse races.
At one corner, the demonstrators could be heard chanting anti-Ruto songs (Ruto Must Go) as police officers watched in disbelief.

The officers could be heard shouting at the demonstrators, urging them to get out of the streets in vain. Some activists who had been arrested could be seen being handled into a police lorry but remained defiant while singing “finance bill must fall”
MPs getting into parliament buildings ahead of the Tuesday afternoon presentation of the bill could be seen being accompanied by tight security even as teargas rent the air.
