The father of the late Monica Kimani, Bishop Paul Ngarama, has said that his greatest desire is to understand why Jowie Irungu, the main suspect in his daughter’s death, killed her.
On September 19, 2018, businesswoman Monica Kimani was brutally killed in her flat at Lamuria Gardens in Nairobi’s Kilimani neighborhood. The sad father told NTV News how much he was hurt by his daughter’s death and how painful it was to not know why she was killed, but had chosen to forgive Jowie.
Ngarama portrayed Monica as a kind, aspirational young woman with a promising future. Admitting that he has forgiven Jowie despite the suffering he caused the family could be the biggest step towards his healing. “The act of forgiveness shall put an end to the trauma that my entire family has been through since 2018 after my firstborn and only daughter was killed,” he stated.
Ngarama made the remarks one week later, following Jowie’s conviction for cold-blood murder. Ngarama’s desire for closure, which he will only receive after learning the purpose, is unfulfilled despite the case’s progress. “I want to know why he killed my little one. Is he prepared to come to me and plead for my forgiveness?” he inquired.
According to the father, the family has been living in denial after Monica’s passing, and occasionally consoled themselves with the thought that she is traveling and will eventually return home.
Jowie Irungu will be convicted on March 8. Journalist Jacque Maribe, Jowie’s ex-lover and co-accused, was found not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by the prosecution, and she was declared innocent.
