President William Ruto on Saturday accused Kakamega residents of lying that they would vote for him during the 2022 election.

Ruto recalled how local promised to back his presidential bid but he said it was a different case after the August 2022 poll was released.

He jokingly said he would report them to God if they do the same in the next presidential poll.

However, residents shouted back at Ruto promising unwavering support going forward. This created a light moment before he proceeded with his speech.

Kakamega County is perceived to be Raila Odinga’s backyard. During the 2022 poll, Mr Odinga secured majority voted in the Western vote-rich county.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga yesterday hinted at running for the presidency in 2027, maintaining that his quest to assume the country’s leadership was still intact.

Raila’s presidential bid might however face hundles as his key allies prepare to vie in the 2027 poll.

Addressing crowds of ODM supporters in Meru county, he said his resolve to liberate Kenyans from poor leadership remains intact despite losing during the last general election.
