In a dramatic turn of events, Jacque Maribe, a former Citizen TV broadcaster entangled in a murder case alongside her ex-boyfriend Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, faced distress on Friday, December 15, 2023, as the verdict was adjourned until January 26 next year.
Ms. Maribe, visibly overwhelmed, exited Milimani High Court’s courtroom 18 and, in a sudden and dramatic collapse, fainted while descending the stairs. Assisted by family members, she regained her composure, opting to sit on the stairs, overcome with emotion. Witnessing this, her mother and other relatives broke into tears.

Escorted out of the court, Jacque, in a visibly distressed state, sat in a car with family members and defence lawyer Katwa Kigen, holding an emergency meeting. Upon regaining strength, she swiftly departed in a Mercedes Benz, disappearing from the scene.
Among those present at the court was former State House Director of Communications, Dennis Itumbi. This marks the second time the case has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.
Judge Grace Nzioka, citing insufficient time to prepare after receiving evidence on December 11, 2023, shifted the verdict announcement. Maribe and Jowie, accused of Monica Kimani’s murder in September 2018, anxiously await the court’s judgement.
As the decision was deferred for the second time, Maribe, overwhelmed by the uncertainties, fainted on the veranda, questioning, “When will I get justice?” Each delay only deepened her frustration. Supported by her family, the former TV presenter was escorted outside, departing in a Mercedes-Benz car. The rollercoaster of emotions in this prolonged legal saga continues, leaving the defendants and their families in suspense until the next court appearance.
