Pastor Michael Njoroge, revered as a king in his prime at Fire Gospel Ministries in Nairobi, lived a lavish lifestyle. He soared in choppers, flaunted luxury cars, and mingled with the elite. His social media showcased opulence, enticing followers with tales of luxury and extravagant escapades.

However, the glittering facade shattered when undercover journalists unearthed his scheme. He ccoached night workers to fabricate miraculous testimonies, luring vulnerable faithful to his mega-church. The ruse collapsed when Esther Mwende, a former street worker, exposed his deception after being coerced into a false testimony.

Njoroge’s downfall spiraled into depression and alcoholism as his wealth dissipated. His death, three months ago from a heart attack, led to a hasty burial in Nyandarua County, far from the spotlight. His widow, Miriam Njoroge, acknowledged his flaws, attributing his downfall to multiple failed marriages and an insatiable lust for women. She revealed his attempts to revive the church amidst dwindling attendance, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following his demise, a controversial burial unfolded, shocking former church members who pooled nearly a million shillings for funeral expenses. The secretive burial, contrary to assurances given, left many feeling deceived and conned. Amidst conflicting accounts, George Mwangi, a local resident, recounted Pastor Njoroge’s decline, citing his transformation from affluence to alcoholism, precipitated by the church’s decline.

The late pastor’s wife defended the burial, citing a will mandating a swift interment and property distribution among his children. However, former members lamented feeling swindled, echoing sentiments of betrayal.
