Faith Makau, a 20-year-old student pursuing hospitality at Utalii college in the Kitui campus branch escaped death by a whisker. According to Faith who is currently nursing some serious injuries, a 24-year-old man who she happens to know very well attacked her and stabbed her thrive in the abdomen after she allegedly refused his proposal of being his lover.
The incident which is said to have taken place on Thursday 1st November 2022 left Faith with injuries. The two are said to be fellowshipping in the same religious center which is located in Mwingi, they are also part of the same youth group.
On a fateful day, Faith left her rented house in Mwingi to go and fetch airtime from the shopping center at around 9 am. On her way, her attacker asked her to help him ferry musical instruments from his house to the church. Sensing no danger, the girl agreed to follow the man to his house, upon reaching there, she was a little bit shocked to see two kitchen knives on top of the table, however, she cooled down assuming that he might have forgotten to take the knives to his kitchen.
After entering the house, the man quickly locked the door behind him and hid the keys, this action kept her heart beating wondering about his next move. After closing the door, the man loudly told Faith that she always wanted her as a lover but she has been turning down his proposals ever since, so he did not stand the feeling of knowing she loves another man something that he thought he deserves.
After talking, the man went for his knives and cut her fingers before stabbing her twice in the stomach. She tried to scream but unfortunately, her energy could not allow her voice to be perceived from outside. When the man stabbed her for the third time, she fell pretending that she was dead. Fearing what might come next, the man opened the door and walked away, this prompted the lady to wake up thinking that her attacker had left and was not returning anytime soon.
While deep in pain, she was shocked to see her attacker coming back, this is when she screamed aloud, but something funny is that her attacker did not seem to be moved by the noise she was making, he just kept on coming for her. Her last words were to be taken to hospital or may be taken to the roadside and abandoned, from when she doesn’t remember anything, perhaps she collapsed.
The screams are what saved her from the attacker because the neighbors intervened and took her to Mwingi level 4 hospital where she was treated, meanwhile, villagers attacked the attacker and wanted to lynch him. Luckily, police officers intervened and saved him from the irate mob, they later took him to Kitui County Referral Hospital where she is receiving treatment after having serious head injuries. Police officers were also forced to stay in the medical facility because the crowd wanted to kill him.
