Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has broken his silence regarding the expulsion and punishment of some of the party’s members. These actions have sent shockwaves through the political arena, and Raila Odinga felt compelled to address the situation.

During a lively discussion at the Migori Leaders’ Forum, Raila Odinga expressed his firm stance on the matter. He declared, “ODM shall not condone political infidelity in the name of some members seeking cheap political favors from those in power.”

The ODM party leader emphasized the importance of adhering to structured political processes and principles. He underscored the need for members to uphold party unity and loyalty rather than pursuing individual interests. Raila Odinga made it clear that engaging in direct talks with political opponents without following the proper channels was viewed as an act of betrayal.

“Fantastic discussion at Migori Leaders’ Forum! Grateful for this county’s energetic role in maandamano,” Raila Odinga wrote on his official Twitter handle after the meeting acknowledging the county’s active participation in political activities. Maandamano, a Swahili term that refers to demonstrations.

The recent disciplinary actions taken by ODM involved the expulsion and fining of several party members who had defied the party’s position on key issues, particularly related to parliamentary voting and visiting President Ruto.

Raila Odinga’s statements reflect his commitment to maintaining party discipline and unity. He emphasized that development should occur through structured and transparent processes, rather than through backdoor dealings or favors handed out at State House.

“Our party members in direct talks with our opponents are traitors. Let them use the proper channels.

Development comes via structured processes, not dished out at statehouse,” Raila noted.
