In a bold move, ODM is standing strong in its decision to kick out rebels and restore order within the party.

With unwavering resolve, John Mbadi, the party’s national chairman, made it clear that they will not be backing down from their decision to expel five legislators accused of supporting rival outfits and violating the party’s constitution.

Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo, Caroli Omondi, Gideon Ochanda, Tom Ojienda, and Phelix Odiwuor have all been removed from the party register. And, Mbadi made it clear that any attempts by the ‘rebel’ MPs to remain in the party will be countered by ODM.

The party is also taking disciplinary action against others who have violated the rules.

The nomination of four Kisumu MCAs has been revoked due to gross misconduct, and other rebel MPs have been instructed to write apology letters and pay fines of varying amounts.

Despite the possibility of some MPs appealing the decision, Mbadi expressed confidence that ODM will prevail.

During an interview on Ramogi FM, Mbadi defended ODM’s decision, pointing out that the rebel legislators had signed a code of conduct agreement to comply with party rules. And, by openly defying the party advisory and disciplinary committee, they had shown disrespect.

Mbadi emphasized that the party had reached the decision after thorough consultations, and they would go the full hog to remove the rebels from the party.

In the end, ODM’s firm stance may be exactly what is needed to bring stability back to the party.

By enforcing rules and holding members accountable, ODM is showing that they are serious about restoring order and regaining their position as a powerful force in Kenyan politics.

Mbadi’s message is not just a warning to rebels in ODM, but to all politicians who think they can flout party rules and get away with it.

The party is serious about its commitment to discipline and accountability, and those who don’t comply will face the consequences.
