Kenyans on X app formerly known as Twitter have expressed mixed reactions after five rebel parliamentarians were expelled from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party for serious misconduct and disregarding the party’s stance.
Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Tom Ojienda (Senator from Kisumu), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Member of Parliament from Suba South), and Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) are among them.
Esther Passaris, the Nairobi Woman Representative, must also pay a Sh250,000 punishment for her misdeeds.
Both Mark Nyamit of Uriri and Paul Abuor of Rongo, who testified before the ODM disciplinary committee on September 6th, have been penalised Sh1 million each.
“Paul Abuor and Mark Nyamita who appeared in person before the Committee and explained reasons for their actions were reprimanded and fined a sum of Sh1 million each to be paid within sixty days,” the party said in a statement. When the Finance Bill 2023 was introduced to Parliament, Passaris, Omondi, and Odhiambo publicly endorsed it. Here are some reactions from Kenyans.
