Come to think of it; with Jesus in their boat, the storms almost capsized their boat. They had Jesus and still had problems; in fact, they had the Creator of the seas and oceans and even while he napped in their very boats, the winds made fun of them. See, you can have Jesus and still have problems and that doesn’t mean that Jesus has failed you. They disciples faced those bitter storms that gave men the sea f
bottom as their graves because even with Jesus in their boat, they wanted to do it on their own; they let him sleep while they tried to steer it on their own. You can’t do it in your own; cry out to Jesus. They wanted to force their way through that fiery wind, but they discovered that they needed a voice; a voice that will speak to that wind in the language that it will understand. They didn’t call for help initially until they were on the verge of capsizing. It was when they woke him that their problems went to sleep.
The problem of our modern days is that we seek for every other solution first, then we seek for God’s face last. We have sadly forgotten that storms are part and parcel of our life’s journey and that they’re presence shouldn’t be interpreted as God’s absence. Don’t let Jesus sleep while you face the bitter storms of alone. The Bible says that they cried out, “Lord we are going down…(Luke 8:34) Indeed, they would have gone down if they didn’t call on Jesus. It’s God first else to God those teething problems of life crumble and tumble you.
Use your knees before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament when the storms of life want to overwhelm you. Don’t let fear paralyze you; call on Jesus. Don’t let pain make you lose your faith in Jesus. Don’t let the problems of life make you blind to the power of Jesus. The bigness of problems shouldn’t stop you from seeing the bigness of your God. Call on Jesus today because until he speaks, the wind will threaten. Until he commands, those bitter winds will try their best to quench you. Let Jesus speak to your situation and you will see things change for good.
