His Excellency President William Ruto has today flexed his powers as the Commander-in-Chief in accordance to the filling of the vacant position of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 17, the Head of State settled on Mr Renson Igonga as the new DPP in the country. This comes days after the selection panel completed interviews on the same before presenting fifteen names to President Ruto’s office.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Igonga worked as the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (ADPP) in the country. His name has now been submitted to the National Assembly for vetting before he officially takes the oath of office.

If approved, Mr Igonga, the man who hails from Luhya land, Western region will replace Noordin Haji as the new DPP. Mr Haji left the office vacant after he was promoted by President Ruto to become the country’s highest spy at the office of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
