Majority leader in the Senate Aaron Cheruiyot, has caused heated debate online after he came up with a fresh idea that if adopted will hugely affect Government workers.
Taking to his official social media pages, the Kericho county Senator noted that Kenya should begin considering doing away with the Permanent and pensionable method of employment within the civil Service.
The senator noted that a number of countries have opted for the contract method which he says is efficient and very affordable as compared to the permanent and pensionable method.
“It is time as a country we have a conversation on GOK employment model of PnP as opposed to contract based employment. Many countries are shifting from long term PnP to contract based elmployment that is lean, efficient and sustainable. Present day wage bill is unsustainable.” He posted on his official social media pages.

Kenyans were quick to comment on this with some Supporting while others critisising him, below are some comments;
Laban Njuguna: The truth is the KK Gov’t must do something that is very unpopular world over but must be done, even the private sector does it, Layoffs!. When an economy is weak, revenues low and resources are stretched, it is a painful but mandatory move.
GK Mkenya: Me think we first should scrap off the nominees in all the houses of Representatives and women rep position.
Doline: Why don’t you start with scrapping pension given to politicians and their spouses after retirement, not forgetting illegal cdf.
Len Bett: It’s okay as long as everyone is paid well like politicians and given their pension at the end of the contact, plus two consecutive contacts to give one a life long pension of over 100k per month.
Cliff Roliginson: Let’s start with over representation in Kenya. We reduce the Governors, senators, MCAs, MPs and Women Reps. Cascade it further by reducing the number of county offices to 8 from 47.
