Political Commentator Professor Herman Manyora has disagreed with Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua over her recent remarks that President William Ruto is double speaking, if what he said during the campaigns and what he is doing now is anything to go by.
In her latest interview with NTV, Karua argued that Ruto said he was going to deal with the cost of living, but he is in support of increasing VAT from 8 per cent to 16 per cent, and that he would not borrow, yet his government has borrowed billions of money since he assumed office.
Defending President Ruto, Manyora through his You Tube Channel on Thursday said probably the president did not know what to expect when he assumed office, owing to how his tenure as deputy president under Uhuru Kenyatta was.
“My honest opinion about this government is that it is made up of good people led by a good and God fearing president. I think they did not know what they were going into. They did not understand that running a government is not a game, it is something big.”
“There is no double speak. What we are seeing is that they are earning what government is and how to run it. You can be a deputy president the way Ruto was, but you are never quite part of running that government.”
“Ruto was not part of the Jubilee regime in the past term. All the confusion you can see now can tell you that he is learning on what government is,” said Manyora.
Manyora’s remarks come shortly after the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp announced Kamukunji rally on Tuesday 27th after MPs approved the Finance Bill 2023.
