Vocal President William Ruto ally Senator Samson Cherargei has come forward to claim that the Secretary-General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), Francis Atwoli, has blocked him on Twitter.
Senator Cherargei took to his own Twitter account on Saturday night, 6th May, to make the revelation, stating that he had been blocked by Atwoli during the heated Presidential campaigns last year.
In his tweet, he begged to be unblocked because he and Atwoli are now on the same side supporting President Ruto.
“Omwami @AtwoliDza blocked me on twitter sometimes last year during heated Presidential campaigns can you unblock me that tuko himaya ya H.E Dr William Ruto!” Cherargei said.
Atwoli, who is known for his outspoken nature, has not yet responded to Senator Cherargei’s request and it remains to be seen whether Atwoli will heed Senator Cherargei’s plea and unblock him on Twitter.
The rift between Atwoli and Senator Cherargei dates back to last year’s Presidential campaigns when the COTU SG publicly endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga. Senator Cherargei, on the other hand, is a vocal supporter of President William Ruto and has been critical of the handshake.
Senator Cherargei’s request to be unblocked by Atwoli has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some calling for the two leaders to bury the hatchet and work together for the benefit of the country.
