Nigerians will be going to the ballot on February 25 to elect their president as the incumbent president Mamadou Buhari’s reign comes to an end.

Buhari who has been at the helm for Two terms was once a military ruler before the country started embracing democracy.

Among the presidential aspirants who stand a chance to succeed him is Atiku Abubakar of the opposition party PDP.

Atiku who once worked as the vice president to former president Olusegun Obasanjo will be Making his sixth stab at the presidency having made five unsuccessful attempts.

However, three attempts were at party primary level while two have been at the national level.

The 76 year-old brings with him experience having served in various positions in government until he became the country’s number two.

Earlier this year, he was forced to clear his name over corruption allegations by his critics saying he is ready to declare his wealth.

He faces stiff competition from Bola Tinubu of the rulling all progressive congress (APC) party and Peter Obi of labour party.

Multiple Opinion pols have put Obi who is considered an outsider and a darling of the downtrodden ahead of the rest.

The question on many people’s lips is whether Atiku will finally get the coveted throne he has been yearning for.

Locally, the former prime minister Raila Odinga has the record of having made five unsuccessful attempts at the presidency.
