Transport along the Kitale-Lodwar road has been paralysed after residents of Kainuk area barricaded the busy road after armed bandits killed three police officers in the area.
The area residents were seen barricading the road with stones and trees before lighting up bonfires, making the road impassable leading to a big traffic snarl-up.
Preliminary facts revealed that the three police officers are feared dead with eight others wounded during a shootout armed with bandits at Kainuk on Kitale-Lodwar Road.
A publication by the standard digital today established that roads leading to Kainuk have been cordoned, with vehicles using the root closed following the attack.
During the attack, the officers and some locals were patrolling along the nearby bushes when they were ambushed by the Pokot bandits.
Bandits are said to have indiscriminately riddle bullets at the officers’ vehicles, killing the three officers on the spot and severely injuring 8 others.
Eight of the injured were rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
