The nominated MP has been accused by a section of members of sabotaging the party leader by not attending rallies that have been held by the Azimio coalition in Nairobi City.

Today has been a bad day for Raila Odinga’s ODM party after a section of leaders from his party paid a visit to William Ruto at State House today. This has left a lot of discussion online among Kenyans as to whether the Kenyan’s oldest party is crumbling.

Even before dust could settle, another shocking news has emerged that the ODM party chairman Hon John Mbadi has declared that he’s ready to quit the party’s leadership. The once staunch supporter of Raila Odinga in the recent days has been at loggerheads with a section party members since the conclusion of the last General Election. His absence from Azimio rallies also raised more concern.

“Those who think being chairman is so important to them let them offer themselves to lead, I am very ready to leave the position to them, right now I am the chair but I am not dying to be the chair, I have done by bit they took away my position as the minority leader. I am still alive, they can still take away the chairmanship, I will still be alive. I want to repeat it for the record, I want to leave this position of ODM chair,” Mbadi declared.

Hon Mbadi also revealed that the party Leader Raila Odinga is aware of his stand and he’s only waiting for a good replacement before he can hand over the leadership mantle to someone else. Mbadi has served as the party’s chair for nine years now and said that he’s ready to hand over to a fresh blood and that he will offer any needed support for the next chair to succeed.

Following his declaration, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has reacted to the news saying that he wished Mbadi all the best and that he’s ready to take over from him. Through a Twitter post, Hon Babu said that it’s time for youthful leadership.

“We wish you well Hon.John Mbadi as you step down from ODM Party Chairmanship. It is now my time to take over from where you have left and steer the Party to greater heights and prosperity. YOUTH POWER. “posted Hon Babu Owino.
