Francis Atwoli, COTU secretary general, described the late Prof. George Magoha as a determined individual on Thursday. Atwoli recalled the day his son was expelled from the University of Nairobi during a press conference at Magoha’s home in Nairobi.

He stated that Magoha was the university’s vice chancellor at the time. “He was a serious man and indeed very serious because he called me one day and told me I don’t want your son in my university anymore,” said Atwoli, who had visited to offer support to the family.

The SG explained that neither his tactics of negotiation nor his ability to exert influence helped him overcome challenges. He did not, however, provide an explanation for the removal of his son.

“He told me, Francis I have said no, and my no is no, take your son to another university in the country,” Atwoli stated, noting that neither their friends nor anyone else would alter his position.

The official continued, describing the late CS as a sincere and pure individual. He asserted that no one would be compensated for Magoha’s burial. “We know who is corrupt in the world of work because we are represented everywhere,” he stated.

He went on to say, “Nobody will come here and say I bribed him to do this and that.”
