Eric Omondi must feel like he is living a nightmare. The comedian had to cancel the second season of his highly popular show, Wife Material after the Kenya Film Classification Board(KFCB) went after him using state machinery.
As if that wasn’t a body blow, they are at it again with the CEO Ezekiel Mutua issuing another statement concerning Eric Omondi’s and Betty Kyallo’s upcoming show on KTN Home.
In a statement seen by Classic105, Mutua sought to clarify that despite the show “The Big Quiz” airing between the watershed period, its content will fully comply with the stipulations of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 as well as the Kenya Information and Communications Act (KICA) and the Programming Code.
Mutua said that Standard Group MD Joe Munene has assured him that the show will adhere to all the regulations put in, pointing out the 18+ information on the poster of the show is misleading.
He tweeted;
We thank the members of the public who brought these concerns to the Board and the Standard Group Management for their swift action” reads Mutua’s statement.
Some Kenyans read Mutua’s statement and wondered aloud what was so flagrant about the poster, as I did? Hmm…
Mutua’s comment comes hours after he slapped Eric Omondi with 9 demands before withdrawing the case that led to his arrest and opt for an out Court settlement as per his request.
Eric Omondi should have fought against KFCB, now Wife Material is done and dusted
I still maintain that Eric should have fought the KFCB in court. Once you allow politicians to legislate art, then it stops being art and becomes mere propaganda. But those are my thoughts. What do you think?
Should the government have a big part in steering a country’s art?
