Safaricom has issued a sturn warning to Kenyans operating mobile phones to be aware of fraudsters threatening to block their lines if they hesitate to give in to them their account details. In the past week, the company has received of close to one hundred thousand complains from their clients about fraudsters calling or texting requesting for confidential information like ID number, date of birth and Pin.
All these calls and texts are accompanied by threats to block the lines. The conning has risen due to direction issued by the Kenya Communication Authority that all communication lines to be registered again digitally. Safaricom company has therefore warned their clients to be cautious and that the company will not be liable to such loss.
According to the Communication Authority of Kenya, Safaricom line users has increased immensely as compared to other networks like Airtel because of it’s convenient and efficient network connections across the country.
