Gospel artiste and politician Reuben Kigame on Wednesday morning shared a burning issue that affected majority of Kenyan artistes in the entertainment industry. He alleged that musicians and performers continued to lose their incomes because of the unending battles between KECOBO and MCSK.The two bodies are the ones mandated to collect royalties on behalf of musicians.

He said the two bodies are in supremacy battles as millions belonging to artists are squandered by invisible cartels, governing boards and administrators.

“Musicians and performers continue to lose their incomes because of the unending battles between KECOBO and MCSK. The supremacy battles continue as millions belonging to artists are squandered by invisible cartels, governing boards and administrators,” he said.

He took a swipe at media houses, entertainment joints and even political parties which he alleged use the work of artists without paying any money because there was no one to collect it.

“Meanwhile media houses, entertainment joints and even political parties continue to use our works as artists without paying a single cent ostensibly because there is nobody to collect it because values no longer exist. That’s how we live whether in getting power or making a living,” Kigame revealed.
