A young Rwandan woman living in Nairobi has stirred online debate after openly complaining that young Kenyan men show no interest in her, while older men constantly approach her.
In a video shared on Saturday, the lady said she can go for months without a single young man even saying hello to her. According to her, the only people who make moves are older men, popularly known as “wababa.”
Speaking in a mix of Swahili and Sheng, she expressed frustration at the situation. “Kenya, unaweza mwezi hata tatu hakuna kijana anakuja kuniambia hata anakutaka. Wababa tu,” she said, adding that young men appear uninterested or too lazy to approach.
She questioned why peers her age leave her to older men and suggested that many young guys are simply not making an effort to talk to women.
The short clip has attracted mixed reactions online. Some users joked that she might “look expensive,” while others advised her to examine spiritual reasons or simply accept that attraction is personal. A few defended young Kenyan men, saying many are focused on hustling and building their lives rather than approaching women.
The video has since gained traction, with many Kenyans weighing in on dating dynamics in Nairobi and the generational differences in how people approach relationships.
As the conversation continues, the Rwandan lady’s frank confession has once again put the spotlight on modern dating struggles among young people in the city.
