Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has responded to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the existence of numerous political parties in the Mt Kenya region, questioning why Gachagua is being singled out in the debate.
Nyoro made the remarks while discussing the region’s political landscape, where several parties are seeking to strengthen their influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“Gachagua, Mt. Kenya tuko na 30 parties, kwani ni yangu umeona tu?” Nyoro posed, suggesting that the region has many political parties and that the discussion should not focus on one individual.
His remarks come amid growing political activity in Mt Kenya as leaders position themselves ahead of the next election. The region remains an important battleground, with politicians seeking to consolidate support and influence the direction of future political alliances.
The existence of multiple parties has also raised questions about unity, leadership and the best strategy for the region’s political interests.
As the 2027 election approaches, political leaders from Mt Kenya are expected to continue engaging in discussions over party affiliations, coalition arrangements and the selection of candidates for various elective positions.
Nyoro’s response adds another dimension to the ongoing political debate involving leaders from the region, particularly as they seek to establish their influence among voters.
The exchange also highlights the wider challenge facing political leaders as they navigate competing interests within Mt Kenya while preparing for the next general election.
With political realignments continuing across the country, the region’s leaders will be under pressure to demonstrate their grassroots support and build alliances capable of shaping the 2027 race.
