Kasarani Member of Parliament and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri has promised to appoint former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria to a position at City Hall should he contest and win the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
Karauri’s offer follows Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administrative decision to remove Mosiria from his role as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement, and Customer Service.
Commenting on the dismissal, the Kasarani lawmaker questioned the rationale behind the decision, lightheartedly pointing out the irony of the Chief Officer’s removal.
“Imagine being the Chief Officer wa Public Participation, then unafutwa kazi kwa ku-participate,” Karauri stated on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Analogy and Promise of Future Role
To describe the political maneuvering behind Mosiria’s exit, Karauri invoked a traditional proverb regarding manufactured fault:
“Fisi akitaka kula watoto wake, kwanza huwasingizia wananuka mbuzi,” Karauri remarked.
Assuring Mosiria about his political and professional future, Karauri pledged to offer him a structured role with defined responsibilities if he assumes the governorship in 2027, alleging that Mosiria had been sidelined within county administration since 2023.
“Mosiria, usijali bro, 2027 nikiingia City Hall kama Governor wa Nairobi, nitakuandikia kazi,” Karauri said. “Kazi ya kweli, sio ile ya kukaa ofisi bila responsibilities since 2023.”
City Hall Administrative Transition
The official restructuring was communicated via county noticeNCC/CS/003/2026, issued pursuant to Sections 44(3)(a), 45(5), and 64 of the County Governments Act, 2012.
Following Mosiria’s departure, Zipporah Njeri Mwangi—currently serving as Chief Officer for City Culture, Arts, and Tourism—was designated to oversee the Public Participation, Citizen Engagement, and Customer Service docket in an acting capacity alongside her primary responsibilities.
