Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has shared a proud family moment after his son Ruhamya Kainerugaba commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

Muhoozi took to social media to congratulate his son following the military ceremony, using words that have attracted attention from people following the family.

“I want to congratulate my beloved son, Ruhamya abasheija, for commissioning as an officer in God’s Army UPDF. May Almighty God always bless you 2nd Lieutenant Ruhamya.”

According to him, the achievement marks an important moment in his son’s life as he begins his journey as an officer in the Ugandan military.

Meanwhile, photographs shared alongside the post show Ruhamya dressed in different military uniforms during the commissioning period. In one picture, he is seen smiling while wearing a dark formal uniform and a peaked cap.

Another photograph shows him seated in a green UPDF service uniform with a maroon beret. His Kainerugaba name tag is also visible on the uniform.

For Muhoozi, who heads Uganda’s armed forces, the occasion is also a personal milestone as he celebrates his son entering the same institution he leads.

His son’s new rank of Second Lieutenant marks the beginning of his career as a commissioned officer in the UPDF.

Many will wait to see how far Muhoozi’s son will go in the army. Will he rise to the top just like his father?
