Angelica Akinyi Okoth, the mother of Kenyan content creator Lyndah Kebati, has opened up about the events surrounding the burial of her late husband, Bosco Kebati.
Angelica spoke about the matter during a TikTok live session as she explained what happened after she received news of Bosco’s death.
According to Angelica, she first learnt about the death from a relative and later sought confirmation before deciding to find out more about the funeral arrangements.
She said she wanted to handle the situation respectfully and initially sent someone to the family home to communicate on her behalf.
However, Angelica claimed that the situation became tense after her representative allegedly faced a hostile reception.
She later went to the home herself, hoping to discuss the burial arrangements and understand how the funeral would be conducted.
Angelica claimed that her attempt to have a conversation with members of Bosco’s other family did not go as she had expected.
She alleged that tensions rose and some people began shouting during the confrontation. She further claimed that objects were thrown and that she was hit with a chair, leaving her with swelling.
Angelica also recalled hearing conversations about money during the incident. She mentioned amounts running into millions of shillings but said she did not clearly understand what the money was being discussed for.
Her remarks come after her daughter Lyndah publicly raised concerns about how their family was treated during Bosco’s funeral.
Lyndah claimed that she and her mother were left out of some important funeral activities. She said they were allegedly denied an opportunity to view Bosco’s body at the morgue and were also not given a chance to make certain contributions during the funeral.
The claims sparked discussion online, with many people questioning what had happened between Bosco’s families.
Members of Bosco’s first family have, however, presented a different version of events. A relative reportedly maintained that the family had been involved in caring for Bosco during his final years and disputed some of the claims made by Lyndah and her mother.
The disagreement has continued to attract attention, with different sides giving their accounts of what happened before and during Bosco’s burial.
Angelica maintained that the experience was painful for her and her family and said the events surrounding the funeral left her with difficult memories.
The controversy has since become a subject of public discussion as the two sides continue to give different accounts of the circumstances surrounding Bosco’s final journey.
