Thousands of young Kenyans are set to converge at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on August 23, 2026, for the Indomie Vaibu ni Mautam Dance Concert and Colour Splash, an event that will combine dance, music, art and entertainment in a day-long youth festival.
The concert follows three days of auditions held from August 11 to August 13 at the Imperial Chambers Garden Hotel, where dancers, crews and performers competed for a place on the main stage.
Organisers said the auditions attracted thousands of young people, with participants showcasing different dance styles in a bid to reach the finals.
The finalists will now battle for top honours during the grand finale at KICC, where winners will share cash prizes across three competition categories.
The event will feature prize money ranging from Sh25,000 to Sh200,000 for the top performers in the crowd faves, Vaibu ni Mautam and High School Tea categories.
According to the organisers, the prize pool is designed to reward creativity, innovation and energy displayed by individual dancers, crews and participating schools.
Beyond the dance competition, the festival will offer a wide range of activities aimed at attracting young people, families and entertainment lovers.
The programme includes the Colour Splash experience, described as “a vibrant celebration of art” that will kick off the day’s activities.
Visitors will also witness the Nganya Showdown, which will showcase some of Nairobi’s best-decorated matatus in celebration of the city’s transport culture.
The organisers have also lined up virtual reality experiences, interactive games, live musical performances, merchandise, giveaways and gifts throughout the event.
The dance contest, however, remains the main attraction, with finalists expected to compete before thousands of fans after making it through the highly competitive auditions.
Organisers described the auditions as a demonstration of the country’s emerging talent, saying dancers and crews “gave it their all” during the selection process.
They said the competition has now reached its final stage, with attention turning to the showdown at KICC to determine “who has what it takes to win it all when the pressure is on, and the crowd is watching.”
Entry to the festival will be free, with organisers requiring visitors to present any Indomie 5-in-1 pack at the gate for admission.
The event is expected to draw supporters of the competing dance crews, families looking for entertainment and fans of music and dance.
Organisers have encouraged the public to attend the festival and follow Indomie Kenya’s social media platforms and YouTube channel for updates on finalists, performance schedules and activities planned for the day.
