The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened the application portal for the September 2026 intake at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campuses across the country.
The placement agency said applications will close on August 11, 2026.
“To all prospective medical students, your time is now! The application for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) September 2026 intake is officially OPEN through the KUCCPS student portal! This is your chance to start your journey into a career in healthcare. Don’t wait, log in and apply now!” KUCCPS said in a notice.
The previous application window for the September intake closed on May 6.
The latest application cycle comes as KUCCPS is also allowing students recently placed in universities and TVET institutions to apply for inter-institutional transfers or change their courses.
The transfer window, which closes on August 14, 2026, is open to applicants from the 2023, 2024 and 2025 KCSE cohorts.
The overlapping application windows have prompted some students to seek clarification on whether those already placed in universities or those who have applied for course or institution transfers can still apply for the KMTC intake.
“The ones who filed for course and campus change, can they still apply?” one applicant asked.
“Can one apply and get KMTC vacancy if they had secured university?” another asked.
“Please guide us on which transfer is allowed. Can one transfer from KMTC to TVET or university?”
Speaking on July 9, a day after the 2026 placement results were released, KUCCPS chief executive officer Agnes Wahome said the transfer process is flexible as long as an applicant meets the cut-off points for the programme they wish to join.
“We also have students from the 2024 class. They went in and they have done a year and they are feeling, ‘we are not hacking it’ in whatever programme they are going through. They have an opportunity to change; we allow at least the first two years before September,” she said.
“So when we open in September, they can now be in a new programme.”
KUCCPS is currently handling multiple admission processes, including a late application window for degree programmes targeting students who sat the KCSE examination between 2022 and 2025.
It is the first time the placement agency has allowed late applications for university admission.
Wahome said the placement is processed instantly, provided an applicant meets the cut-off points for their preferred course.
