A woman was left devastated after she was reportedly attacked and robbed in broad daylight while walking along Kenyatta Road towards Gatundu in Kiambu County, in an incident that has sparked fresh concerns over security in the area.
According to witnesses, the woman was using a footpath on Sunday, July 5, when unknown assailants ambushed her without warning. The attackers allegedly struck her with an object before grabbing her belongings and fleeing the scene.
Residents who responded moments later found the woman visibly shaken and struggling to process what had happened. A video recorded after the incident showed members of the public comforting her as she broke down in tears.
The victim said her stolen mobile phone contained access to all the money she had, leaving her stranded with no immediate way to seek help or continue with her journey.
Witnesses claimed the suspects escaped into a nearby thicket located across the road before disappearing. The robbery is said to have occurred only a short distance from Kays Police Station, a detail that has angered many residents who questioned how such a crime could happen so close to a security installation.
The incident quickly attracted passers-by, with many expressing concern over what they described as increasing cases of insecurity targeting pedestrians along the busy road. Some residents argued that overgrown vegetation near the roadside provides convenient hiding places for criminals before and after attacks.
