Kenyan actor and stunt performer Emmanuel Mugo has officially landed one of the biggest roles of his career after joining the cast of The Agency Season 2, a major Hollywood production featuring several globally recognized stars.

The milestone marks a significant breakthrough for the Kenyan creative, who has spent more than 17 years building his career across television, film, stunt performance, and visual storytelling both locally and internationally.

Produced by Paramount+, The Agency is a high-profile espionage thriller series led by a star-studded cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere, and Jeffrey Wright.

Part of the second season was filmed in Kenya, with Mugo not only securing an acting role in the production but also joining the Kenyan stunt crew involved in the international project.

Speaking about the breakthrough, Mugo described the opportunity as both career-defining and deeply personal, saying landing the role fulfilled a long-held dream.

However, Mugo revealed that securing the coveted role did not come easily.

The actor disclosed that he was initially overlooked during the casting process and was not the first choice for the role before producers later reached out to him with the final opportunity.

Mugo also revealed that working on The Agency significantly changed how he views the entertainment industry.

According to the actor, collaborating with world-class filmmakers and internationally established actors exposed him to new creative standards that fundamentally shifted his perspective on his own craft.

Beyond the acting opportunity itself, the Kenyan star explained that the project opened doors he had not previously imagined, including professional opportunities that saw him travel to Nigeria as part of work connected to the production.

He also praised the team behind the Hollywood series, describing the set environment as highly supportive and one of the healthiest creative spaces he has worked in throughout his career.

Before making the jump into Hollywood, Mugo had steadily built a strong portfolio within Kenya’s entertainment industry.

Many local viewers first encountered him through the long-running Citizen TV drama series Tahidi High, which helped launch several actors into mainstream entertainment.

He later gained wider recognition after delivering a notable performance in the 2021 Kenyan action thriller Mission to Rescue, a film that received praise for its military-based storyline centered around a high-stakes rescue mission.

Mugo also starred in Mpakani: Story of the North, where he played Kibet in a television production focused on military tactical operations along Kenya’s northern borders.

In 2015, Mugo worked as part of the Nairobi-based stunt performance team during production of the globally successful Netflix science fiction series Sense8 when filming took place in Kenya.

Outside acting and stunt work, Mugo has also built a career behind the camera as a photographer and filmmaker through his independent photography venture, Mugraphy.

The actor has also remained vocal about challenges affecting East Africa’s film industry, frequently speaking against exploitative middlemen and structural barriers that continue limiting opportunities for creatives in the region.
