Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia has raised concerns over her safety after her official security detail was withdrawn.
The legislator alleged that unknown vehicles have been trailing her movements, creating fear for her personal security and that of her family.
In a statement, Muhia said two suspicious vehicles were spotted parked outside her mother’s home until late at night.
She described the situation as a serious security threat not only to her but also to her constituents and the wider Nyandarua community.
“If anything happens to me, the Government of Kenya should be held fully responsible,” she declared.
Muhia linked the alleged intimidation and withdrawal of her security to her active involvement in the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election.
She is openly supporting a Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate, a move she believes has attracted hostility from political rivals.
The MP insisted that her political stand should not expose her to harassment or danger.
The legislator further urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to summon her formally if there are any issues requiring clarification.
She emphasized her readiness to present herself at the nearest police station whenever needed.
Authorities are yet to issue an official response regarding the withdrawal of Muhia’s security or the alleged surveillance.
