Rachel Wandeto

Gospel musician Racheal Muthoni Wandeto was laid to rest on Friday at her family home in Kabumbu Village, Kirinyaga Central, following a court decision that brought an end to a dispute over her final burial arrangements.

The Kerugoya Law Court allowed her mother, Sarah Njeri Wandeto, to proceed with the burial, clearing the way for the ceremony after weeks of disagreement within the family.

The burial service began at around 11:30 a.m. and was conducted by the Akarino Church Kiandaka Parish under the leadership of Archbishop Tito Charles Kinyua.

Wandeto’s body was collected from St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Mortuary in Kerugoya after it had earlier been released from Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home in Kabati.

Family spokesperson Joseph Githinji Kimaru confirmed that the court ruling provided the direction needed for the burial to proceed.

The ceremony was kept brief and private following the earlier disruptions surrounding the arrangements. Wandeto, who was born in 1986, was eventually laid to rest as family members, friends, and loved ones celebrated her life, faith, and contribution to gospel music.
