A disturbing CCTV recording has sparked widespread condemnation on social media after it allegedly captured a domestic worker mistreating her employer’s young daughter inside a bedroom. The footage, which has since circulated online, has reignited conversations about child safety and the importance of monitoring the welfare of children left under the care of caregivers.

According to reports accompanying the video, the incident occurred at approximately 3:19 p.m. on June 6 and was captured by a surveillance camera installed inside the family’s home. The footage reportedly shows the young girl resting on a large bed as she prepared for her afternoon nap. Dressed in protective baby mittens, the child appeared calm and comfortable before the househelp entered the room.

The video allegedly shows the caregiver closing the bedroom door and approaching the child. The girl then lay on her stomach as the woman covered her with a duvet, seemingly preparing her for sleep. However, what followed has left many viewers deeply concerned.

According to accounts of the footage, the househelp is seen handling the child in a manner that many online users described as rough and inappropriate. The child reportedly became visibly distressed and began crying as the caregiver continued attempting to settle her. At certain points, the duvet appeared to cover a significant portion of the child’s body while the woman allegedly continued applying force underneath the blanket.

The footage further appears to show the child crying continuously as the caregiver allegedly shakes or handles her aggressively. Viewers expressed concern over the child’s visible distress and the apparent lack of comforting measures expected when caring for a young child.

The situation became even more alarming when the caregiver reportedly left the room for a short period and entered a bathroom, leaving the child unattended on the bed. During this time, the girl could be seen moving her head and legs while attempting to calm herself.

The video has generated strong reactions across social media platforms, with many users expressing anger, disappointment, and concern for the child’s wellbeing. Some parents pointed to the incident as an example of why surveillance cameras are increasingly being installed in homes, particularly where young children are left in the care of domestic workers.

The incident has also sparked broader discussions about accountability, child protection, and the responsibilities of caregivers entrusted with the safety of minors. Many Kenyans have called for investigations into the matter and urged parents to remain vigilant when selecting and monitoring individuals responsible for caring for their children.

As public debate continues, the case serves as a reminder of the critical importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that caregivers uphold the highest standards of responsibility, compassion, and professionalism.
