Veteran actor Gacheru, popularly known for his role in Central Cinema productions, has passed away after a sudden and serious health complication that developed over a few weeks.
According to reports, Gacheru first began feeling unwell but initially assumed the condition was minor. He sought medical attention and underwent a CT scan, which did not show any significant abnormalities at the time. He was discharged and returned home to continue resting.
However, his condition worsened in the days that followed, prompting his wife to take him back to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) earlier this week. On arrival, his health was already in a more critical state, and doctors immediately escalated his care.
Medical specialists recommended an MRI scan of the brain to get a clearer diagnosis. While awaiting the results, Gacheru suffered a cardiac arrest.
The medical team quickly intervened and successfully resuscitated him through CPR before transferring him to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring and further treatment.
When the MRI results were finally released, doctors confirmed that he was suffering from a highly aggressive brain tumour that had already caused extensive damage. At that advanced stage, treatment options were severely limited.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, his condition continued to deteriorate. He eventually succumbed to the illness, leaving behind family, friends, colleagues, and fans who remember him for his work and contribution to local entertainment.
His passing has been met with deep sorrow across the film and media community, with many describing him as a talented and dedicated actor who made a lasting impact on audiences.
Family and friends are finding comfort in faith as they come to terms with the loss, remembering him with love and gratitude for the life he lived and the memories he created on screen.
