The family of the late Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo, former Gem Member of Parliament and ODM politician, is mourning the death of his elder brother, Professor Jacob Ogweno Midiwo.
According to CRA Commissioner Dr. George Jalang’o Midiwo, Professor Ogweno passed away on Monday morning while receiving treatment after a month-long battle in the Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. Jalang’o described the loss as devastating to the family, the academic community, and all those who benefited from his mentorship and service.
Professor Ogweno was a respected Chemistry scholar at Maseno University and had earlier served at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus.
His career spanned decades, during which he taught and guided many students who have since become professionals in different fields.
