A fresh political storm is brewing ahead of the 2027 General Election after Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho launched a stinging attack on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, dismissing him as unfit to lead the country.
Speaking during a charged political gathering, Joho mocked Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions in remarks that have already ignited fierce debate across the political scene.
The outspoken CS did not hold back as he questioned what Kalonzo achieved during his years in senior government positions.
“Kalonzo anafaa tu kuwa mzee wa mtaa, masikini nywele zimemtoka kichwani, kitambi kimemtoka aliwaletea kitu huku akiwa Naibu wa Rais?” Joho posed as crowds erupted into cheers and laughter.
The remarks are expected to intensify political temperatures as leaders begin positioning themselves for the high-stakes 2027 presidential contest.
Kalonzo, who has repeatedly declared his interest in succeeding President William Ruto, is currently rallying opposition forces in an attempt to build a formidable coalition.
Joho’s comments appeared aimed at portraying Kalonzo as an aging politician who has overstayed in national politics without delivering meaningful change to Kenyans.
Supporters of the Mining CS argued that the country needs youthful, energetic leadership capable of transforming the economy and addressing unemployment among the youth.
However, Kalonzo’s allies quickly condemned Joho’s remarks, accusing him of promoting politics of insults instead of issue-based campaigns.
Several Wiper supporters defended their party leader, pointing to his long political experience and diplomatic record as proof that he remains a strong contender in the next election.
Political analysts now believe the early attacks signal that the battle for 2027 has unofficially begun.
With alliances shifting and political camps sharpening their strategies, Kenyans are likely to witness even more explosive exchanges in the coming months as the race to State House gathers momentum.
