Senator Richard Onyonka drew public attention during a memorial mass held in honour of his late mother, Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, after making unexpected personal revelations about his family life.The emotional service, which took place at his residence, aimed to honor the life of his 81-year-old mother, who passed away at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
Senator Onyonka regarded her as the cornerstone of their family and a profound guiding presence whose impact significantly influenced their lives.
During his tribute, the senator made an unexpected revelation, disclosing that former commissioner Akombe is his spouse.
This announcement intrigued both mourners present and online viewers following the memorial service.
Onyonka also noted that he practices polygamy and has 12 children from different mothers, mentioning his plans to introduce his children to the public during his mother’s burial ceremonies.
He expressed gratitude towards all his wives, highlighting their vital contributions to his family life.He specifically commended Akombe for her support, sharing that she had taken an active role in caring for his late mother, including managing her medical care while she was being treated in the United States.
The senator clarified that Akombe lives in Kitale, dispelling prior public misconceptions about her whereabouts.
Onyonka further added that all his children are around him and revealed that the son he shares with Akombe lives in America.
“He is a clever boy (Akombe’s son), he lives in America and speaks Ekegusii, Swahili and English. If he decides to get into politics in future, I wish him well, and I will support him.
He mentioned that his family has maintained a close bond over the years, despite geographical distances resulting from their various work obligations.
