Douglas Masikonde of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has appealed to residents of Narok Town to end ongoing protests before the situation worsens. His statement followed emerging reports of damage during Monday’s demonstrations.

Posting on Facebook, he encouraged participants to step back from the protests, noting that what began as a peaceful expression of dissatisfaction was quickly descending into disorder and destruction that could negatively affect the community.

He stated: “Narok Town my good people, let’s call it a day. Please let’s call off the demonstration for today. It is now turning into destruction and heading in the wrong direction. There is tomorrow.”

Masikonde stressed that while citizens have a right to demonstrate peacefully, they must ensure that protests do not result in harm to people or property. He called for calm and responsibility as tensions rose.

He further noted: “Let us continue to exercise our democratic rights peacefully while protecting lives, businesses and property. Together we remain strong, united and focused on the bigger cause.”

The unrest in Narok was part of broader protests seen in several towns on Monday, driven by public frustration over economic challenges and transport-related strikes.
