Paul Simba Arati is the current governor of Kisii county having won the 2022 general elections with a wide margin against former education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Ombaki Machogu. As the 2027 general elections draw near, the two are set to face off again with Simba Arati coming on an Orange Democratic Movement party ticket and and Ezekiel Machogu on a Jubilee party ticket.
While issuing bursaries in Nyaribari Masaba, the home constituency of Ezekiel Machogu, Simba Arati labelled his competitor as a corrupt man, he alleged that Machogu is the one who has contributed to the struggling is Kiamokama tea factory. Simba alleged that Machogu’s brokerage firm went to court and sued Kiamokama factory over a debt they owed him and the court awarded him money that even children of the farmers of the factory will continue paying.
The governor added that when Ezekiel Machogu became the cabinet secretary for education, he squandered money meant for school children feeding programme. He noted that the former cabinet secretary is building a storey building in Kisii town near Dados hotel and he wanted to stop it’s construction but he later changed his mind and allowed it’s construction because Machogu got the money from outside Kisii county.
